Highlights From The Year

Stage 2 of The Gracewood Unveiled

As Stage 2 of our independent living community in the heart of Sydney’s Hills District came closer to being realized, a variety of events took place for existing and potential residents, including a property information session with property guru and host of the Lifestyle Channel’s Selling Houses Australia, Andrew Winter.

These events culminated in the official opening of The Gracewood Stage Two by the Hon. Ray Williams MP, Member for Castle Hill and Hills Shire Mayor, Yvonne Keane on 22 November 2016.

Stage Two comprises 80 new architecturally designed apartments that capture the vistas of the natural surroundings, and brings the total number of residents to more than 200.

The exciting third and final stage of the Gracewood Retirement Living Community is currently being planned.

Newcastle Retirement Villages Acquired

In November 2016 we formally acquired three local retirement villages from Newcastle City Council following success in an expression of interest process in early 2016.

The villages include Allambie Court at New Lambton, Kiah Court at Jesmond and Carinya Court at New Lambton.

These 29 units will provide a much needed boost to the affordable housing resources for seniors in Newcastle supported by our community and home services.

Residents were welcomed to the BaptistCare family with a special lunch event, and the villages join BaptistCare’s Hunter-based services, including our three community centres, home services and residential aged care facility.

Lessons In Love

In February 2017, Castle Towers Shopping Centre in Castle Hill went looking for love experts, and struck gold at BaptistCare Aminya Village in Baulkham Hills.

They were after a lesson or two on what a lifetime of love means to our residents, and captured on film their insightful and heart-warming answers on video.

Our resident couples were asked whether they remembered their first kiss, how they proposed, and how important it is to say ‘I love you’.
